So who am I?
I work for a charity doing corporate fundraising. I love my job, I’m good at my job and I’m passionate about the cause. I work four days a week and do a lot of overtime so my working week is probably closer to 45 hours than the 28 hours I’m contracted to do.
I have a gorgeous partner who I love and respect, he’s my hero. We’ve been living together for 4 years and knew each other for 20 years before that. I have an eight year daughter who lives with us permanently and calls my partner daddy. I also have a seven year old step-daughter who lives with us for half of the week. We’re one of the lucky ones who can genuinely say that we co-parent with his ex-wife. We’re even on good terms with her family and last year the four of us went to her parents wedding with her and her new partner. Bit of a complex situation but it works for us. My daughter’s biological father, on the other hand, is a no-show and hasn’t been in our lives for the last five years, a situation that suits us all.
And why am I starting this blog?
A multitude of reasons really. Firstly, I’ve always wanted to do something like this and working from home has given me more time in front of my laptop than ever before. Secondly, I have a horrible tendency to overthink absolutely everything so I’m hoping that by putting my thoughts down in writing, I learn to manage my stress and anxiety a little better. Thirdly, with the global pandemic that continues to echo in our ears, I want to have somewhere to look back on in the years to come to reflect on this surreal time we’re all living through.
I’ll try and update regularly and will mainly be writing about parenting and working and juggling everything inbetween. Here’s hoping there’s more laughter than tears.
Thanks for reading 🙂
